The story of Irvine Robbins and Burton Baskin After working in his father's ice cream shop as a child, Irvine Robbins opened his own ice cream shop called Snowbird in California in 1945. His brother-in-law, Burton Baskin, made ice cream for war veterans and opened Burton's Ice Cream Shop after World War II. Baskin-Robbins, the ice cream company the two founded by combining their names, grew to have over 400 stores in the U.S. in 10 years. Following the expansion in Japan, Saudi Arabia, Australia, and Baskin-Robbins finally arrived in Korea in 1985.
